POLICY FOCUS OF THE MONTH:

Government must take action to curtail corruption!

AGENDA issued a statement on December 10, 2008, amongst other things, calling on the Government to exercise political will. The statement also request that Government take a position on Review Mechanism for the UNCAC. On December 15, 2008, on the day the UNCAC Working Group on Review Mechanism met in Vienna, AGENDA and the National Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Liberia (NACCSOL), held a one day symposium to review the Government of Liberia's fight against corruption. Open Budget Index 2008: Liberia Report

Liberia's Overall Score: 2%

Provides scant or no information to the public in its budget documents during the year.

Liberia's score on the Open Budget Index shows that the government provides the public with almost no information on the central government’s budget and financial activities during the course of the budget year. This makes it very difficult for citizens to hold government accountable for its management of the public's money.
